Finding a student job while a student can be both an exciting and daunting task. Before searching for a job, determine your free time so you can find a job that fits your schedule. Also take into consideration traveling to and from work, and any commuting expenses you might incur.

Here are some tips for job hunting:

• In addition to help wanted ads, also look for jobs through local employment agencies; they will often offer resume and interview advice
• Check your local campus for its own employment assistance programs
• Take advantage of networking with friends and family; like the old cliché says, sometimes it's not what you know but who you know
• Tailor your resume for specific jobs; focus on strengths that are applicable for the jobs you are applying for
• Follow up with the companies you apply for; even if you don't land the job you are applying for, other positions could be available
